Wedding Photography at The Greenman, Fownhope Herefordshire
After a quick visit to St Peters church in Bullingham, and a drop in on the Groom and Groomsmen it was to the main Wedding venue, ‘The Greenman', in the picturesque village of Fownhope, deep in the heart of Herefordshire. The venue, if you have never had the pleasure of visiting, creates the perfect backdrop for a Wedding reception. The ancient, historic country pub is believed to date from 1485, with perfectly suited expansion and renovation, creating a wonderful, warm and friendly atmosphere. On a sunny day (which it definitely was) the venue spills out into its beautiful lawned beer garden.
Bridal Preparations at ‘The Greenman’ hotel
The venue’s hotel rooms created a wonderful, relaxed setting for Rachel, her Bridesmaids, and flower girl to get ready, all with the help of ‘Sprinkle Magic Hair and Makeup’. It also gave me the opportunity to capture the venue, perfectly prepared by Herefordshires Couture Events.
Once the Bridal party was ready, it was off to the Church with the help of 2cv Wedding Cars.
Wedding Ceremony at St Peters Church, Hereford
At the Church it was an opportunity to photograph the Groom, a particularly favourite moment of mine, as the Groom prepares himself for the arrival of the Bride, and the ceremony that will shortly follow.
Now I cannot go much further without mentioning the weather, it was hot, very, very hot, probably the hottest, sunniest wedding I have ever had the pleasure of attending.
Oh and England were about to kick off in the World cup quarter final!
Documenting a special day
When the Ceremony was over, the traditional elements of a wedding day continued, the newly married Bride and Groom leaving the Church, to be met with a shower of confetti before the formal group shots, tough work in the afternoon sun, but all went well.
Then it was back into the Citroen 2cv’s and back to The Greenman. Some guests perhaps moving a little quicker than others in order to catch the rest of the ongoing football match!
After a few drinks and canapés came a chance to spend a little time alone with the Bride and Groom. As the sun was shining we headed over to a nearby wood in order to cool off in the shade, this also provided a perfect, natural location to intimately capture the newly married couple.
Rachel and Adam both looked great, Rachel wearing an elegant dress from Ashton Rose, and a beautiful Bouquet from The Herefordshire Flower studio. Adam was wearing a contemporary suit from ‘Symonds of Hereford’.
Back to the reception for a little reportage style Photography
Back to the beer garden and England are winning. Although not necessarily part of the wedding itself, documenting is about capturing everything that is happening on the day, so I knew that somehow I needed to record the fact that England were playing in such a historic game, and what better way than another goal, it is these details that it’s important to capture in order to tell the story and to spark conversation and nostalgia in many years to come.
The day continued with a meal, speeches and a little wild dancing, and yet another opportunity to whisk the Bride and Groom away for a moment under the golden evening light, and an opportunity for the Videographers Everlong films to launch their drone to capture the moment.
