Lyde Court wedding photography

This was my first visit as a wedding photographer to the amazing Lyde Court in Herefordshire, and it certainly did not disappoint, this unique location shooting high up my list of favourite wedding venues, with the large barn making me very excited, but more of that later.

Having met the Bride and Groom on several occasions, and following each other on social media I knew this wedding was going to be something special, and to top it all off the sun was shining!

On arriving at Lyde Court I was met by the groom, after a brief chat about the previous evenings fun  in Hereford it was on to see the bride.  Bridal party prep; hair, make-up and Prosecco was well under way in the main house.  The drawing room, bathed in natural light from the french doors was a hive of activity for the bride and her many bridesmaids.

Romantic outdoor ceremony

When the time came, the bride looking absolutely stunning in her lace wedding dress was led through the rose garden and into the beautiful gardens for the ceremony.   The bride and groom were married under a home made floral arch, the idyllic rural Herefordshire backdrop creating the perfect setting for a memorable and touching wedding.

Once married the celebrations began as the newlywed couple walked through a long line of confetti throwing well wishers.

Intimate reception in the 17th century Barn.

As the guests relaxed on the willow lawn there was an opportunity for some formal group shots and more importantly a chance to whisk the bride and groom away for a few intimate, more personal photographs together, their first as a newly married couple.  Lyde Court providing ample opportunities for natural backdrops.

It was then into the romantic 17th century stone barn for the reception. This place is a photography dream if your that way inclined, vaulted ceilings, elm wooden beams, slit windows providing small pockets of light… wow, and to seal the deal draped bunting and lighting for the all important bokeh effect, those balls of awesome, out of focus lighting, glowing orange, providing drama, intimacy and a perfect atmospheric vibe.

First dance and beyond!

As the day unfolded the fun continued, speeches, including a quiz, cake cutting, banter and laughs on a very warm and personal day.  This all provided ample opportunity to capture and record the day in a fantastic documentary style.

The climax of the day came as the happy couple enjoyed their first dance to a backdrop of music from the soulful sound of Dayton Grey, prior to an open dance floor providing some of the most questionable, but awesome dancing ever seen!
