A Very Intimate Wedding - Rose and Josh

A Covid Restricted Wedding - The Guild Hall Worcester

A few weeks ago I finally got to Photograph my first Wedding in what feels like a lifetime. Like many others these guys had been very organised, planning and booking their wedding well in advance, securing a beautiful venue and all their preferred suppliers, including myself as their photographer. But again, like many others their plans were thwarted by the dreaded Covid, postponements were made, back up plans were put in place, and those cursed words were uttered, “everything should be fine by then!”.

But what really mattered was getting married so when the Prime Minister made his final announcements and the rules said six guests, Rose & Josh put what mattered first, made a few final adjustments and married at ‘The Guild Hall Worcester’ accompanied by their closest family members. and myself with my cameras! Other friends and family watched via a live Zoom call and a few stopped by after the ceremony to wish the new Husband & Wife their best wishes.

The Photographers Wedding day nerves

Shooting a wedding is a nerve wracking experience, in my opinion if it isn’t then you are not putting your all into what you are doing, sure anyone with a camera can do it, but to do it and add that little bit of something extra takes a little bit more work. Thousands of thoughts run through your mind, will I be in the right place? will I see the best shots? will I be ready for those special moments? will the light be right? will I see the light and make best use of it? will I have the right lens on? will my camera focus? Oh please focus! will my pictures look natural? will they look cliche? what would a ‘wedding photographer do’ and how can I do it different? How can I add depth and interest? will I get the best pictures I can get? And when you haven’t shot for a while then these nerves are amplified, and when the wedding is only a couple of hours then you just dont want to miss a thing. Luckily everything came together on the day, and worked out well, my nerves soon faded, it just left me itching and excited to get back to it and to start shooting a lot more!

The beautiful dress was from Ashton Rose Bridal, Hereford. And the amazing flowers were from May Rose Floral Design, also in Herefordshire.
