Brooks Country House Wedding Photography
Its been a few years since I last photographed a wedding at the wonderful Brooks Country House in Herefordshire, and things have certainly changed in that time. Firstly a name change, formerly Pengethley Manor, and secondly an amazing top to toe makeover.
This wonderful 22 bedroom Georgian manor house sits in a beautiful corner of rural Herefordshire. Situated amongst the rolling hills and mature trees of the Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye.
The former manor house overlooks a beautiful expanse of former parkland, now owned by the National Trust. The main building boasts classical Georgian country house luxury. Inside this newly refurbished retreat there is everything you could possibly need from a wedding venue, and more, the type of place where you could quite happily be snowed in for a few days! Stylish sumptuous bedrooms, a guest lounge, a restaurant in the former library, games room, pool room, gym, swimming pool. The ideal location to escape the pace of modern urban life.
From Reception venue to the wedding ceremony and back
On arriving at Brooks Country House I was met with the genuine friendliness and hospitality of the staff who kindly showed me around the warming and stylish venue.
It was then to work, a little time with the Groom and his groomsmen as they finished getting ready, before squeezing in a quick game of pool in the pool room. Then it was a little time with the bride and her bridesmaids as they continued to prepare for the ceremony. It was a time of sentimental touching traditions, gifts and Champagne, before the mother of the bride helped her daughter put on her elegant white wedding dress, needless to say she looked amazing.
The Ceremony itself was held at Sollershope Church, a rural Church hidden away in the Herefordshire countryside, a place chosen for its family connections, the same place the brides mother married just 29 years earlier! It was this sentimental connection that meant this was the perfect location for the all important family group shots, needless to say this was after more tradition with a little confetti throwing.
Meanwhile back at Brooks
Once the formalities were complete it was back to the reception venue to really get the party started; reception drinks, speeches, dinner, cake cutting, first dance and a party that went on into the night. All great opportunities for plenty of reportage style photography
